I’m not into forcefully taking money from someone who rightfully earns it, especially if you’re giving it to someone else.

Let’s help ourselves help others. I believe in Karma.

riley: I agree, but I think we differ on the definition of ‘rightfully’.

For example, I don’t think George Soros rightfully earned those billions, I don’t think Bill Gates or Andrew Carnegie did either.

Considering how much the first world has plundered from the third world in the past, it might be reasonable to help them develop now.

More of our tax dollars shouldn’t be squandered by the UN while our economy is ailing. It is well known that UN aid often doesn’t make it to the intended recipients.

Why would you spend our tax money, and otherwise (printed inflationary funding) to a government organization under the assumption it will be used to help impoverished nations. After Billions of dollars are COMPLETELY UNACCOUNTED FOR and missing in our efforts in Iraq. You yes votes need to do some reading up on government programs. It’s like our federal education system. There is so much bureaucracy in 7 lesson schooling, you wonder why we rank in the bottom 20’s of industrialized nations? Well better spend more money on education.. Wrong… I agree with Riley, Why take your money, your American money, and give it to a special interest group, who slices 70% off the top before it’s loosely distributed to 3rd party organizations that are not regulated or monitored. idiots. It’s good to Read before you Vote. ignorance keeps the cycle going. Why do you think Inflation is so high in the worlds greatest economy?!!! gas prices? inflation inflation inflation, print more money and send it overseas, like it isn’t going to weaken our buying power.

agreed daltanion, although I don’t appreciate hearing you call the people that disagree with you idiots and the like.

The problem is that the liberal mindset is to force Americans into donating to causes like this through taxation, when in fact all we need to do is cut taxes and allow the people to decide to donate on their own.

Non-profit organizations would be much more capable of getting the money where it needs to go, and they would do a much better job of properly helping the impoverished areas.

Although I agree with the purpose of the bill on an ideological basis, I don’t believe those empowered by the status quo, including the criminals running our Executive Branch, have any incentive to assist in the development of the Third World.

Most of our foreign aid helps, and is designed to help, tyrannical governments stay in power via the oppression of their peoples. Creating and supporting powerful, business-friendly allies is in the interest of those that call the shots. Cultivating legitimate social and economic development in the Third World is not.

I want to stop the practice of neo-colonialism – not encourage it.

I’d have to agree. The third world will become wealthy if, and only if, they achieve economic freedom.

As long as they’re socialist, we can’t help them, and if and when they become capitalist, they won’t need our help.

For that matter, we’ve got a long way to go toward economic freedom ourselves. Capitalism is not Corporate Socialism.

daltanian phishfi I agree. We need to become more of an isolationist nation in order to fix our own problems, only after we’re “fixed” can we start meddling with other nations.

@cxxguy true capitalism, though great in theory, remains just that…a theory. Ideologically speaking, Capitalism leads to cronyism. Man is inherently weak/corruptable and accordingly cannot handle the responsibility true capitalism brings.

Here's an idea i have for a "unity" type of party. A "metaparty" essentially. Our goal is to serve as an alternative to the plurality-based two party system, enabling the current alternative parties, as well as new ones, to function as "sub-parties". Our...

Freedom is only an illusion. Unless we get involved in the "core" of our government, our government will only superficially give us the freedoms it feels it needs to keep us docile. Even if the government needed to stage numerous parties in debates to feed our thirst they would still...
